The publication of Jake Tapper and Alex Thompson's Original Sin created some serious problems for Joe Biden.
It was all reporting that should have been done when Biden was in office, but it was still creating a lot of questions for Biden-era officials who refused to admit that the then-president was in a state of mental decline while in office.
Now, Republicans are calling in former Biden officials, hoping they come clean under oath by allowing them to testify behind closed doors.
The final downfall of Biden started after his disastrous 2024 debate performance against Donald Trump.
For months, Democrats had insisted that Joe was doing just fine and he was “sharp” as ever. They could no longer hide it after Biden stared into the camera blankly, stammered his way through answers, often blurting out nonsensical statements when trying to defend himself against Trump's attacks.
Within weeks, Biden would be out of the race, and that is when the wheels started to come off.
All of a sudden, Biden insiders started to talk, and it became quite clear that the wool was being pulled over the collective eyes of the American voter.
Even now, there are some Democrats who refuse to admit the truth about Biden, including former President Bill Clinton.
Clinton has been doing the media circuit, trying to help Biden save face.
The former president recently told CBS Sunday Morning, “I saw President Biden not very long ago, and I thought he was in good shape."
He continued, “I had never seen him and walked away thinking, he can’t do this anymore.”
Congress is now hoping to get to the bottom of this scandal, and make no mistake about it, it is arguably the biggest presidential scandal in modern history.
The House Oversight Committee is calling numerous former Biden officials to testify behind closed doors, hoping they spill the beans privately rather than putting them on national TV to tell their tales.
Expected to testify are former Domestic Policy Council Director Neera Tanden, former assistant to the president and senior advisor to then-first lady Jill Biden, Anthony Bernal, and former administration officials Annie Tomasini and Ashley Williams. There are several other interviews requested, including with Biden’s White House doctor, Kevin O’Connor.
I am not really sure what we can expect to come of this, but I am glad they are getting people under oath to testify. Hopefully, at some point, we can hold the shadow government we believed operated during the Biden administration accountable.
