During the 2024 presidential campaign, a lot was made about Elon Musk supporting Trump. He was just one billionaire, however, and Harris had far more, as well as a truckload of celebrity endorsements.
Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) is already laying the groundwork for one of his fellow socialists, calling out Harris for the volume of rich people she had behind her campaign.
Harris had plenty of big-name celebrities behind her campaign, which started with the hosts of “The View,” including Alyssa Farrah Griffin, who used to work for the Trump administration.
Of course, Alyssa Milano, the Hollywood screaming liberal, was also behind her campaign.
Oprah was among the A-listers, but there are questions about Harris paying for that endorsement, as there are with Beyonce’s endorsement of Harris.
There were several actors who killed me by endorsing Harris, such as Will Ferrell, Zoe Saldana, and Harrison Ford, all of whom are favorites of mine. I won’t boycott them, but I just cannot believe they were supporting her campaign.
As we noted above, Musk was clearly behind Trump, but it was Harris who most of them flocked to with their checkbooks.
Harris had a total of 76 billionaires behind her campaign, compared to 49 for Trump.
The biggest donations in this block came from Michael Bloomberg, Arthur Blank, and Steven Spielberg, all of whom donated $1 million or more to her campaign.
Among Trump’s biggest donors were Steve Wynn, Linda McMahon, and Miriam Adelson.
If there is one thing I agree on with Sanders, it would be that we need to remove PACs from the political arena, especially when it comes to congressional seats and local elections, as they just invite corruption and out-of-state money.
Sanders went after Harris on this front, stating, "One of the reasons, in my view, that Kamala Harris lost this election is she had too many billionaires telling her not to speak up for the working-class of this country."
He continued, "I like her, she’s a friend of mine, but her core consultants, you know, were heavily influenced by very wealthy people. How do you run for president and not develop a strong agenda that speaks to the economic crises facing working families?"
We all know where loyalty lies when someone gets elected to office, and for the most part, especially at the lower levels, it is not with constituents. Who is a Senator going to be more concerned about? An average voter who did not donate to the campaign or a business owner who has an agenda that donated $1 million through a PAC. We know the answer… so let’s start pressuring Congress to remove PACs from the equation. And while they are at it, how about ruling out the out-of-state money for all local and state elections, including all congressional seats? Then maybe our elected officials would actually pay attention to all the people who voted for them.
