Musk reignites feud with Donald Trump over 'big, beautiful bill'

It looked like the feud between Donald Trump and Elon Musk had subsided, but the spending bill working its way through Congress continues to irk the tech mogul.

On Monday, Musk once again called the bill a travesty, but he upped the ante by vowing to primary everyone who voted in favor of the legislation.

Trump responded in kind, threatening to cut off subsidies for EVs previously enjoyed by Musk, even recommending that perhaps it is time for the Tesla CEO to go home to his native South Africa.

I am coming after you...

Musk, like me, is very worried about how much this spending bill will add to our national debt, and he plans on holding anyone who supported this bill accountable, using the same strategy Trump has employed... threatening to primary them.

Musk stated, “Every member of Congress who campaigned on reducing government spending and then immediately voted for the biggest debt increase in history should hang their head in shame!"

He continued, “And they will lose their primary next year if it is the last thing I do on this Earth.”

There is no going back from this, as Trump will take this as a direct threat, but Musk was not done just yet.

Backing Massie

Two members of Congress from Kentucky have been the loudest opposition to this bill, and while Trump has given Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) a free pass, he has targeted Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY).

Musk, however, may have just made Trump’s worst nightmare come true by saying he would be backing Massie during his re-election run (Trump has already vowed to primary him for not supporting the legislation).

A post was made on X asking who would be supporting Massie’s re-election bid, and Musk answered, “Me.”

That may have been the straw that broke the camel’s back, so to speak, because Trump then unleashed on Musk.

The DOGE monster

Trump not only threatened to cut Musk’s subsidies, but he also suggested sending his former friend back to South Africa.

The president responded to Musk’s criticism, “Elon may get more subsidy [sic] than any human being in history, by far, and without subsidies, Elon would probably have to close up shop and head back home to South Africa.”

He then stated, “No more Rocket launches, Satellites, or Electric Car Production, and our Country would save a FORTUNE.”

Our country would save a fortune, but Musk and NASA are intertwined at this point, and Trump has some rather significant space ambitions, so that would be Trump cutting off his nose to spite his face. Again, I just don’t understand why every disagreement needs to turn into a war among conservatives. If this continues, all we are going to do is hand Congress and the White House back to the Democrats on a silver platter in 2026 and 2028.
