Donald Trump’s strike against Iran has resulted in Iran threatening to shut down the Strait of Hormuz, where roughly 20% of the global oil supply travels. This could dramatically increase the prices of fuel in this country and abroad, and create a global oil shortage. Trump’s quest for United States energy independence has never been more relevant, but it also brings to light the fact the global landscape on energy is changing, and isn’t it time for Congress to start looking for ways for renewable energy and fossil fuel to start working together for energy independence rather than pitting the two industries in a war against each other?
