Bondi taking steps to have Judge Boasberg removed from bench

One of the more controversial judges in the many suits against the Trump administration is Judge James Boasberg. Boasberg, who has been trying to block Trump for deporting illegals.

It was later ruled that his court did not have jurisdiction in the case; however, that did not stop Boasberg from continuing to try to enforce his ruling, not to mention some pretty brutal statements about the Trump administration.

Cancel the hearing

Boasberg’s initial ruling over the 200 or so illegals who were deported was immediately appealed by the Trump administration.

Trump wanted to use the Alien Enemies Act for deportations. And even though Trump had already sent the first group on a plane to leave the country, Boasberg wanted them to turn the planes around.

The administration refused, and then the Supreme Court ruled that Boasberg did not even have the authority to make the ruling, as the case never should have been filed in his district.

Boasberg then canceled an upcoming hearing, so we thought he was out of this picture.

In contempt

A few weeks later, a report surfaced that Boasberg was considering holding Trump officials involved in the flights in contempt for dismissing his ruling.

Boasberg, in mid-July, stated, "The Court ultimately determines that the Government's actions on that day demonstrate a willful disregard for its Order, sufficient for the Court to conclude that probable cause exists to find the Government in criminal contempt.

"The Court does not reach such conclusion lightly or hastily; indeed, it has given Defendants ample opportunity to rectify or explain their actions. None of their responses has been satisfactory."

The administration said it was going to appeal, but I was honestly confused how he still had any authority in the case, considering the ruling by the Supreme Court.

Dropping the Hammer

Some people tend to think that Chief Justice Roberts would be the person responsible for disciplining judges, but that is not the case. Lower courts have a judicial conduct commission where complaints are filed and evaluated.

Each case is handled individually, but it goes without saying that if one judge sees multiple complaints that are enforced, as well as regularly seeing cases overturned on appeal, it would be grounds for having their robe taken back.

Attorney General Pam Bondi is now getting the ball rolling against Boasberg, with the DOJ announcing, "The Department of Justice respectfully submits this complaint alleging misconduct by U.S. District Court Chief Judge James E. Boasberg for making improper public comments about President Donald J. Trump to the Chief Justice of the United States and other federal judges that have undermined the integrity and impartiality of the judiciary.”

There have been judges who have ruled against Trump, and that ruling, based on the Constitution, was the correct ruling, but that was not the case with Boasberg. He has come off as an activist from the outset, so I would love to see Bondi’s efforts successful.
