How did Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) suddenly accumulate so much wealth?
The GOP is ready to go to court to unravel her finances, and Omar continues to push back on the narrative of how that wealth was accumulated. But as it turns out, questions were initially being asked by Biden’s DOJ.
The House Oversight Committee had announced that it was going to look into Omar’s newfound wealth.
It comes as no surprise that the investigation is being challenged by a lawsuit, to which Chairman James Comer (R-KY) responded, “If you want to win in court – there’s people that do stunts. You have to give people an opportunity to come in first.”
Trump has now brought a national spotlight on Omar’s wealth, recently stating, “And then we have this fake congressperson, who they just reported is worth $30 million. You believe this? Ilhan Omar talking about the Constitution that provides me . . . she comes from a country that’s not a country, and she’s telling us how to run America. Not going to get away with it much longer, let me tell you.”
The speculation is that her wealth is associated with her husband, Tim Mynett, who has several business interests, but not everyone is buying that line of defense.
Omar says the idea that she is now a millionaire is “ridiculous” and “categorically false.”
The controversial congresswoman was in the red when she first took her seat, but now she is married to Mynett, who has a stake in ESTCRU LLC and Rose Lake Capital LLC. Together, the two businesses are valued between $6 million and $30 million.
The real issue, however, is that in a previous filing, the collective worth of those two businesses was between $15,000 and $51,000, so how did they grow so quickly?
Omar responded, “The value range listed for the assets reflects the full cost assessment of the businesses, in which my husband is one of several partners and does not reflect his individual share.”
While the Trump administration and the GOP-run Congress are taking heat for looking into Omar, the Biden administration was also digging into her records.
The New York Times report stated, “The Justice Department under the Biden administration opened an investigation into Representative Ilhan Omar, Democrat of Minnesota, in 2024 to scrutinize her finances, campaign spending, and interactions with a foreign citizen, according to people with knowledge of the matter.”
When Trump posted on Truth Social about her alleged wealth, Omar responded, “Sorry, Trump, your support is collapsing, and you’re panicking. Right on cue, you’re deflecting from your failures with lies and conspiracy theories about me. Years of ‘investigations’ have found nothing.”
Here is my question… Even if they find something, what are they going to do about it? I don’t know about you, but I am sick and tired of these massive claims and accusations made by Congress, then they investigate, and even if they find something, the worst that ever seems to happen is a censure. If you are not going to bring charges of some kind, what is the purpose of all these investigations?
And with no repercussions, we will continue to see political corruption.
