This week, Vice President JD Vance had several big announcements.
Policy-wise, he announced that the Mexico City policy was being expanded. It was also announced that he and Second Lady Usha Vance are expecting another child.
This policy made its debut in 1985 during Ronald Reagan’s second term.
The policy forbids NGOs receiving government funding from being able to provide abortion counseling or referrals, as well as actively promoting abortion as a form of family planning, among other stipulations.
The policy has been like a tennis match, going out of effect during Democrat administrations and being put back into play during Republican administrations.
Trump reinstated the policy in 2025 after Biden rescinded it in 2021.
Vance broke the news at the 53rd annual March for Life in Washington, DC.
Vance told the crowd, “Now we’re expanding this policy to protect life, to combat DEI, and the radical gender ideologies that prey on our children.”
He later added, “All in all, we have expanded the Mexico City Policy about three times as big as it was before. And we’re proud of it because we believe in fighting for life.”
I cannot think of anyone better to break the news about the expansion, considering the recent news shared by Vance.
Vance has regularly stated that we need more babies in this country, and this administration is leading by example.
Vance recently shared that he and Usha Vance are expecting their fourth child, and they are not alone. He stated, “Usha and the baby are doing well, and we are all looking forward to welcoming him in late July.”
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt is also pregnant with her second child, stating, "My husband and I are thrilled to grow our family and can’t wait to watch our son become a big brother.” Top adviser Stephen Miller and his wife, Katie, also announced a pregnancy in December, as they prepare for their fourth child.
Of course, the left even had something to say about that, making it sound like another Handmaid’s Tale. There is just no end to how low the left will go right now.
