Clinton jail time a possibility after contempt vote in Congress

House Oversight Chairman James Comer (R-KY) wants the Clintons in the hot seat to discuss the Epstein files.

To this point, Bill and Hillary have refused, with Bill making a last-second offer to testify with some rather ridiculous stipulations.

Comer refused, and now that the House has voted on contempt charges, the DOJ could soon have the pleasure of indicting Bill and Hillary Clinton for contempt of Congress.

Refusal

With the clock ticking, the Clintons notified Comer they would not be joining him for the requested chat.

They penned a letter that, in part, stated, “Every person has to decide when they have seen or had enough and are ready to fight for this country, its principles and its people, no matter the consequences.

“For us, now is that time.”

Just as a reminder, don’t forget how Hillary got on her soapbox about Trump allies not testifying when they were subpoenaed.

An Offer

Bill Clinton finally did make an offer, but it was not a good one.

He wanted Comer and the ranking Democrat to come to his office, no recordings, and no other members of Congress could be privy to what they discussed, among other stipulations.

In other words, it would be ripe for Bill Clinton to deny whatever Comer claimed about the meeting, with Bill probably assuming that Rep. Robert Garcia (D-CA), the ranking House Oversight Committee member, would surely back him up.

Comer declined, stating, “The Clintons’ latest demands make clear they believe their last name entitles them to special treatment. The absence of an official transcript is an indefensible demand that is insulting to the American people who demand answers about Epstein’s crimes.”

One Step Closer

A bipartisan amendment was passed to hold Bill Clinton in contempt, passing 34-8, and another to hold Hillary in contempt, which passed 28-15. Two members voted “present” on Bill’s amendment, and one voted “present” for Hillary.

Comer announced, “By voting to hold the Clintons in contempt, the Committee sent a clear message: no one is above the law, and justice must be applied equally—regardless of position, pedigree, or prestige.”

He continued, “These bipartisan subpoenas for the Clintons were approved unanimously and issued more than five months ago as part of the Committee’s investigation into Jeffrey Epstein. The Clintons were legally required to appear and instead responded to our good-faith negotiations with defiance, delay, and obstruction.”

This is a big move against Clinton, and I am sure that Bill and Hillary are as stunned as I am regarding the bipartisan support for the amendments. It is rather shocking that, of all things for the House to come together on, it is holding Bill and Hillary in contempt.
