White House flips on Netanyahu narrative

While Trump has been supportive of Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu to this point, he now appears to be at wits’ end.

Trump has called out Netanyahu’s aggression in the past, but the latest strike by Israel appears to have crossed the line. The White House went ballistic on Netanyahu over a bombing in Syria, calling him a “madman.”

In lock step

As we were approaching the bombing mission to take out Iran’s nuclear facilities, Israel also bombed Evin prison, a notorious location for political prisoners in Iran.

Israel carried out a precision strike that hit the front gates of the prison, leading to the usual media and Democrat outrage.

The White House, however, stated that it was “totally aligned” with Israel on its approach to Iran.

The White House further stated that it supported the actions of Israel against Iran from day one.

Trump getting frustrated

Not long after Trump announced that he had negotiated a ceasefire deal between Iran and Israel, strikes were carried out.

Trump went nuclear, stating, "We basically have two countries that have been fighting so long and so hard, that they don't know what the f--- they're doing. Do you understand that?"

When Trump was later asked if he thought Iran was still committed to peace, he responded, "I do, yeah. They violated it but Israel violated it, too.”

This was the first time I can ever recall breaking with Israel, as he has always defended the nation and everything that Netanyahu has done. It was a sign that perhaps Netanyahu was taking advantage of Trump’s support, and Trump had had enough.

Trigger-happy madman

Israel recently conducted another Gaza strike as well as a massive strike against Syria, and Trump did not take too kindly to it.

One White House official responded, “Bibi acted like a madman. He bombs everything all the time. This could undermine what Trump is trying to do.”

Netanyahu’s critics say he does not want peace until Israel has obliterated all of its enemies, and it sounds like Trump may now be falling in line with that belief.

Up and down the administration, there is growing frustration that Netanyahu is out of control, with one official comparing him to a child who you just cannot get to behave. That is not a good sign for Netanyahu, as the entire left wants him removed from office. If Netanyahu loses Trump, I think it is fair to say that his political career would be over, not to mention the state of relations with Israel and the United States being at risk.
