The Biden administration was filled with scandals, but there are two of them that stand out. The first is the obvious mental decline of Joe Biden and a possible shadow government in place to call the shots.
The second is the use of the autopen, which plays off the first point.
A former top aide for Biden, Neera Tanden, poured gasoline on both of these scandals when she testified that she had been given use of the autopen.
It was not so much that she had been authorized to us it, it was that she had no idea who gave the final approval when it came time to put the documents under the pen.
House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) stated, "There were a lot of executive orders that were signed using the autopen. There's really no excuse to use the autopen on days when you're in the White House.
“Many of the documents that were signed with the autopen were days that Joe Biden was actually in the White House. It's hard to explain."
In recent days, Joe Biden has popped up to defend himself on this front, insisting that he was the one who made the final call.
Biden told the New York Times, “I made every decision.”
That, however, was not necessarily the case.
Even Biden admitted that while he gave parameters to his staff regarding the mass pardons issued, he did not go over every file. Another report revealed that the final pardons issued were also signed with the autopen, and they were approved by Biden’s Chief of Staff.
Constitutional legal scholar Randy Barnett just used a popular Democrat narrative against them when he looked at the use of the autopen.
He stated, "For all the talk of a ‘constitutional crisis' or threats to ‘our democracy’ having the executive branch systematically run by unknown subordinates of a mentally incompetent president is the biggest constitutional scandal in US history – it’s called into question the legality of official acts done in his name but without proper authority.
"Southern secession was a ‘constitutional crisis.’ This is a constitutional scandal."
I agree completely, but as I have stated before, I doubt we will get to the bottom of this until after Joe Biden passes. I think his staffers like him too much to dump on him while he is still around, so it will likely be years before we get the full truth about what really took place when the empty vessel was in office.
