Democratic Party begins to embrace NYC mayoral hopeful Zohran Mamdani

The shocking result that saw Zohran Mamdani prevail in New York City’s Democratic Party primary is a big test for liberals.

Will they embrace an antisemitic Democratic socialist, or will party members push back and resist this lunge to the far left?

Sadly, Democratic Party leadership appears to be caving, leaving conservatives in the Empire State with a very tough choice to make.

Doomerism

One thing we have all noticed about the younger Democrat voters is that they all have this “Chicken Little” attitude about the country and world in general.

Everything is taken to the extreme in terms of doom and gloom, and Mamdani tapped into that much like Donald Trump tapped into voters' desire for an outsider who would drain the swamp in 2016.

Author and psychologist Jean Twenge explained, “They perpetually think things are awful. It’s ‘Vote the bastards out,’ no matter who is in office. Because [for Gen Z], things are always awful, even if they’re not.”

Twenge added, “Depression isn’t just about emotions; it’s about how you see the world. That has all these downstream implications, including for politics -- that we need to completely start over, throw out capitalism, no more billionaires.”

Party caving

Sadly, most Democrats are not standing up to this, and it would appear that the DNC is now embracing Mamdani and his antisemitic rhetoric. DNC Chair Ken Martin was recently asked about Mamdani and his refusal to push back against the phrase “globalize the intifada,” which has been equated with violence against Israel in the quest to expand Palestine. Rather than condemn the stance, Martin said the party has a big tent under which Mamdani can fit.

In part, he responded, “There’s no candidate in this party that I agree 100% of the time with, to be honest with you. There [are] things that I don’t agree with Mamdani that he said. But, at the end of the day, I always believe, as a Democratic Party chair in Minnesota for the last 14 years, and now the Chair of the DNC, that you win through addition. You win by bringing people into your coalition."

Martin continued, “We have conservative Democrats. We have centrist Democrats. We have labor progressives like me, and we have this new brand of Democrat, which is the leftist. And we win by bringing people into that coalition. And, at the end of the day, for me, that’s the type of party we’re going to lead. We are a big tent party. Yes, it leads to dissent and debate, and there [are] differences of opinions on a whole host of issues. But we should celebrate that as a party and recognize, at the end of the day, we’re better because of it.”

Can you imagine if Donald Trump or any Republican had said that they are welcoming Proud Boys into the party because it expands the coalition? We are talking about a wolf being invited into the hen house, and Democrats are oblivious to it.

Taking over

There is an adage of “give them an inch, they’ll take a mile,” and I think that is what we are seeing from Democrat socialists in the Democrat Party today. AOC was the test, then it was people like Reps. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) and Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) who are spreading this poison in Congress.

Now we have Mamdani, whose backers are already thinking much bigger than New York City. A report broke this week that his allies are looking to primary House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY).

The Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) stated, "this movement is bigger than one person, election, city, or organization." The statement continued, "We encourage all people inspired by the Zohran campaign to join their local DSA or YDSA chapter and get involved so we can continue to fight alongside Zohran and DSA elected officials across the country to create the future we all deserve.” New York City’s Democratic Socialists of America chapter co-chair Gustavo Gordillo, on Jeffries, stated, "His leadership has left a vacuum that organizations like DSA are filling. I think that is more important right now.”

Infiltrate from within… that is how you take over a country. You start small, putting members on the city council or taking over prosecutors’ offices. You place a few members in Congress. Suddenly, you are now running for Senate seats and House leadership, and winning mayoral races. Eventually, these people want to secure the White House in order to completely change the country. New York City, I am convinced, is ground zero for this test, and we are about to see how susceptible this country is to the infiltration of a key communist stepping stone… socialism.
