Now that the big, beautiful bill (BBB) has been passed and signed into law, Elon Musk is making it clear that he no longer wants anything to do with the GOP.
To that point, Musk recently announced he will be starting a new party, the America Party.
Among its top priorities, Musk revealed, will be the release of the Epstein files.
Musk did not hold back on his criticism of the BBB, blasting everyone, including Trump, for the passage of the bill.
While the legislation was working its way through Congress, he stated, “Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong. You know it.”
He continued, “He issued a warning on the midterm elections: “In November next year, we fire all politicians who betrayed the American people.”
Musk then posted a poll about the possibility of starting a legitimate third party to threaten the establishment.
After the poll had concluded, Musk announced, "By a factor of 2 to 1, you want a new political party and you shall have it!"
He also announced his strategy, and it looks very doable from where I am standing.
Musk said he would focus on only one or two seats in the Senate, as well as a handful of seats that were in battleground states in the House.
This would enable his party to hold power simply by being the swing votes for legislation if the GOP still held the majority (it is a given that America Party candidates would caucus with the GOP rather than the Democratic Party).
Musk appears to have made a big mistake by focusing on the Epstein file, but I understand why he is doing this. He thinks he can draw in Trump's MAGA dissenters, but I think now that the president is dismissing the issue, most of his hardcore followers will do the same.
He stated, “How can people be expected to have faith in Trump if he won’t release the Epstein files?”
Musk said he will make this a priority, but is that really what he wants his party to be focused on? Conspiracy theories?
This will draw on some unhappy MAGA voters as well as the conspiracy theorists, but I don’t think focusing on Epstein will help his party to be taken seriously. He will get some fringe players, but if he expects to get strong candidates under his flag, he had better get serious about promoting issues that actually impact Americans, not those that feed gossip columns.
