The wins for President Donald Trump in the courts continue to be both unexpected and numerous.
Trump had two big wins this week, one in the Supreme Court and one in the lower courts.
The president has been given the thumbs up to reduce government staffing as well as claw back nearly $1 billion in grant money.
Current FISA Court judge and Barack Obama appointee U.S. District Judge Amit Mehta made a decision he did not like, but he was forced to admit that Trump had the authority he claimed.
Mehta denied the injunction request by a handful of organizations who were looking to block Trump from pulling back 360 grants, totaling about $800 million.
While Mehta ruled Trump had the authority to claw back the money, he also gave a lecture on how “shameful” he believes the actions of the administration were, stating, "Defendants’ rescinding of these awards is shameful."
He went on, “It is likely to harm communities and individuals vulnerable to crime and violence. But displeasure and sympathy are not enough in a court of law."
Presidential powers regarding the shrinking of government staffing levels were confirmed in a 6-3 Supreme Court ruling that fell along ideological lines.
This will allow Trump to carry out Executive Order 14210 while the order continues to be litigated in the lower courts, then possibly elevated to go before the Supreme Court.
However, the fact that the court is allowing this order to go into effect, which will allow a massive staffing reduction as well as reorganization of some government agencies, is a great sign for Trump.
The Court majority opinion stated, "Because the Government is likely to succeed on its argument that the Executive Order and Memorandum are lawful -- and because the other factors bearing on whether to grant a stay are satisfied—we grant the application.”
Biden-appointed Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson has been having a hard time accepting the rulings by the Court, and she has been earning a reputation as a bit of an activist due to her dissents.
That narrative was only reinforced during a recent appearance by Jackson, in which she started to push Democrat talking points.
During an interview with ABC News, the justice called the Court an “existential threat to the rule of law” with a conservative majority, later adding, “Sometimes we have cases that have those kinds of implications, and, you know, are there cases in which there are issues that have that kind of significance? Absolutely."
This is the role that liberals in the judiciary seem to be playing as of late. They have the opinion that their interpretation of the law is the only right one. In reality, they are getting loss after loss fed to them because the American people have had enough, and those on the left don’t like the way this plate of crow tastes very much. It also goes to show you just how dangerous Democrats will be if they manage to get control of not only the government, but also the judiciary.
