Obama’s CIA boss may have looming legal problems over past testimony

Former CIA Director John Brennan has a lot of baggage that has been tied to him dating back to the first Trump administration.

There were more than a few questions about his involvement in pushing the Steele dossier, and then he signed Biden’s subsequently debunked intelligence laptop letter during the 2020 campaign.

There are now reports that Brennan may have lied under oath regarding the Steele dossier, among other issues, which could create a legal mess for him and also for Democrats.

Intelligence bombshell

There was a very informative post in National Review in May 2019 regarding Brennan’s “intelligence bombshell.”

Brennan regularly patted himself on the back regarding the Russian collusion case, but there were even serious questions being asked back then if Brennan had put too much faith in the Steele dossier over his desire to take down Trump.

In August 2016, Brennan was quoted by the Washington Post, as having “an intelligence bombshell," with the paper saying that it was “a report drawn from sourcing deep inside the Russian government that detailed Russian President Vladimir Putin’s direct involvement in a cyber campaign to disrupt and discredit the U.S. presidential race.”

Call me silly, but that sure sounds like it was the Steele dossier that was the intelligence bombshell, based on what we now know.

The letter

During the 2020 campaign, one of the most controversial events was when 51 former intelligence officials, including Brennan, signed a letter attempting to portray Hunter Biden’s laptop as Russian disinformation.

Mind you, not a single one of these officials actually examined the evidence. The FBI had the laptop on the shelf at the time, but reports later claimed that leadership declared the computer off limits.

I have always believed this was election interference, and I have no idea why those officials were never held accountable.

After the fact, not a single one of them apologized for misleading the American people. It was also made quite evident that this was politically motivated to help Biden and disqualify Trump.

Brennan may have legal problems

Reports are now surfacing that Brennan was the one who insisted on putting so much weight on the Steele dossier, even though it had already been discredited by CIA experts.

The review of Brennan’s report claimed that when “confronted with specific flaws in the Dossier by the two [Russia] mission center leaders — one with extensive operational experience and the other with a strong analytic background — he appeared more swayed by the Dossier’s general conformity with existing theories than by legitimate tradecraft concerns.”

However, when Brennan testified before Congress, he stated that the Steele dossier “wasn’t part of the corpus of intelligence information that we had. It was not in any way used as a basis for the Intelligence Community Assessment that was done.”

That, my friends, is perjury, and I suspect the DOJ is already turning its wheels to figure out how to put the case before a grand jury and get an indictment against Brennan, which would send a shockwave through the establishment. And I will go out on a limb and say once pressure is applied to Brennan, the house of cards that was built around this case will start to fall.
