Democrats did everything they could to keep Donald Trump from winning the White House during the 2016 presidential campaign, and now the current Trump administration wants to hold them accountable.
The media will likely call this the weaponization of presidential powers, but that is far from the case.
The White House is now claiming there was a rogue effort among Obama-era officials to purposely invent the Russia collusion narrative, and now they are looking for heads on platters.
Democrats were pitching the narrative during and after the 2016 election that Trump and the Russians were working together to rig the election.
A big part of the collusion case came out of the so-called Steele dossier, which had been discredited by the FBI, but it still played a major role in the securing of the FISA warrants against Trump officials.
Hillary Clinton’s campaign and the DNC were eventually tied to partial funding of the document.
Eventually, an investigation was ordered, and it showed that there was no direct link between Trump and the Russians in a coordinated effort to help the Trump campaign.
The American people paid millions for an investigation that never should have had to take place, were it not for the criminal efforts of a rogue element within our government to take out Trump.
Mueller never found sufficient evidence to tie Trump to Russian efforts, which, by the way, happen in every election and have been taking place in elections for decades. The United States interferes in elections, so it stands to reason that other countries would try to influence our elections to get their preferred candidate in place. I am not justifying it or belittling it; just stating a fact.
The two biggest revelations that came from the investigation, at least in my opinion, were the FISA abuses and the funding of the Steele dossier.
However, we would later find out there was also a rogue element within the government that was operating to stop Trump, be it with the encouragement of leadership or leadership just being so incompetent, it never picked up on it.
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt dropped a bit of a bombshell on the media this week, stating, "President Trump was right -- again. Those who engaged in this political scandal must be held accountable for the fraud they committed against President Trump and the lies they told to the American people."
One of the top officials on the list is former CIA Director John Brennan, who knew the Steele dossier was fantasy, but chose to use that rather than “analytical soundness.” The review of the investigation reported, "When confronted with specific flaws in the Dossier by the two mission center leaders -- one with extensive operational experience and the other with a strong analytic background -- he appeared more swayed by the Dossier's general conformity with existing theories than by legitimate tradecraft concerns."
It continued, “Brennan ultimately formalized his position in writing, stating that ‘my bottom line is that I believe that the information warrants inclusion in the report.’”
He is but one official on a list, which should also include former Director James Comey, former Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe, and every official who signed that letter during the 2020 campaign season to back Joe Biden regarding the bogus narrative created about Hunter Biden’s laptop. They violated our trust, repeatedly, and we simply cannot allow that to happen.
